But when it comes to trusting in Jesus, we can’t make that happen by our own decisions and choices. We need the Holy Spirit to carry us to Jesus, like the spiritual babies we are

Have you done everything you wanted to do? Probably not. But you are in Christ, who died for you and rose again to give you new, everlasting life. You are a child of the Father, who will use you—even you!—to further His kingdom

The first human beings disobeying God back in the garden of Eden. That first sin of disobedience grew and multiplied and contaminated every area of life—work, family and children, even worship.

In Baptism we were clothed and well-armored in Jesus’ righteousness. In the trials and suffering we may face, the Lord is our refuge, our place of safety. His favor covers us like a shield.

Jesus contrasts this lazy judge with God, the true Judge. Satan, our adversary, tries to fill our heads with false pictures of God to demoralize us. But the adversary is not the Creator.

Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).

So it’s all right for us to say, “I don’t understand this,” and lay it aside for a while and go to a different part of the Bible. God will make things clear in His own time and way.

Jacob knows he’s not going to win. But he’s not ready to give up, either. So he says one of the most ridiculous things in the Bible—”I will not let you go unless you bless me.”

Jesus took onto Himself the responsibility for our sin and guilt. Then, in the bright dawn of the first Easter, Jesus rose to life, scattering the darkness of sin and death.
