When we wander in sin, as we often do, our Shepherd calls us to repentance and forgives our sins. Finally, one day, we will live with Jesus in the safety of His eternal sheepfold

This preparation is not to decide if you’re worthy to reign with Jesus. No, that’s already been decided. You are already chosen, in Baptism, through faith, for rebirth in God’s royal family.

Joy, because Jesus had defeated death as well, and now everyone who trusts in Him will live forever—even disciples as clueless as these two! Jesus is for you!

God Himself has seen our distress in this broken world that is full of evil, and He has come to rescue us. He has come as the Man Jesus Christ. Jesus knows by experience what it means to work hard, to suffer, to feel the things that you trusted fall apart on you

He’s just told them that they’ve made the worst mistake ever: they failed to recognize their Messiah when God sent Him, and instead, they crucified Him! No wonder they asked, “Brothers, what shall we do?”

In the face of distress and anguish, our souls can rest easy because God, in His overflowing grace through Jesus our Savior, has dealt bountifully with us.

Let’s talk about tears. Do you cry? Are you a weeper? Most of us are. Oh, we manly men may not want to admit it, but most of us have been known to shed a tear or two.

I think a lot of us wonder that, especially if we belong to a church where everyone else seems to have their life going smoothly. Here we are, struggling with doubt or temptation or just overwhelmed with the trouble in our lives, and we wonder: Is God paying attention? Does He care that I’m struggling?
