We find ourselves by losing ourselves, being caught up in a relationship with Jesus for others. Jesus knows and loves us better than we know and love ourselves.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor, proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

All of it are potentially deadly. When a human body starts attacking itself, we call it an immune reaction gone bad. It leads to hospitalization and even death.

Jesus gave us the Holy Spirit, to dwell in us and to keep us close to God at all times. Who else could do this but the Lord? So He is our joy and our strength.

Who can discern his errors? Declare me innocent from hidden faults.
Let them have no dominion over me!
I shall be blameless and innocent of great transgression.

The devil offered to Jesus what Herod feared; tempting Jesus with “the kingdom of the world and it’s glory” to worship him (Mat 4:8).
Worship is to God alone.

The devil in the Bible promises secret honors.
The little pendant the devil pounds into ones flesh, is pride.
Pride wants to be God (see Isaiah 14:12-14).

The rest of the guests will begin to notice, and they will be talk. Was it bad planning? People’s tongues will wag, and it will embarrass the family for years.

One passing judgment shows there is something wrong.
Such a person can’t be trusted. Getting basic things wrong, the Holy Spirit is not speaking through him.
