Jesus hanging on the cross made seven different statements. Only one of those statements dealt with his physical suffering “I am thirsty” read for the others.

Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with Him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in the newness of life. The Holy Spirit works through Baptism to place faith in our hearts and put our feet on the way of the cross.

Jesus did not have an army – just a bunch of ordinary people who would desert him five days later. The people who shouted “Hosanna and blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord” (Matt 21:9) would cry out “crucify him” five days later (Matt 27:22). The man who was decorated as “king of Israel” would be brutally crucified in five days. So, why is it called a “triumphal entry?”

Breathing is important. God calls us all to receive the breath of resurrected life that comes only from Jesus Christ. In Him is a breath for the weary and heavy-laden, for the crushed in spirit, for the despised and lowly. Today, we see how the world is in a lot of trouble and distress. The Lord gives breath and enters into our life and revitalizes us beyond all understanding. In Jesus is the breath of life that extends even beyond the problems of this world and even beyond death. Amen.

And if on this earth, sin and sickness strike, even when we are the weakest. Do not be afraid; Jesus the power of God will lift us up and take us to the room He has prepared us. Where “they shall not hunger or thirst, neither scorching wind nor sun shall strike them, for he who has pity on them will lead them, and by springs of water will guide them” (Isaiah 49:10).

John knew his duty was only to call people to repentance, but only Jesus gives everlasting forgiveness.
John knew he could lead people into the Jordan to be symbolically washed, but it would take the blood of Jesus to cleanse souls permanently….!

Jesus is the lamb of God. He is the promised Messiah… It was He who was the promised seed of the woman to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden
