Person and work of the Holy Spirit

Person and work of the Holy Spirit

Person and work of the Holy Spirit

Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, from within him shall flow rivers of living water. But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believed on him were to receive: for the Spirit was not yet given; because Jesus was not yet glorified.

The word of God

Thanks be to God for such a Powerful words for a powerful season – Pentecost!.

Let us pray:
Gracious Lord, visit us in our affliction and bless us in the Name of Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen!

Rev. Tomorrow is a special day for Christians… I mean for those who believe in Jesus!
Day of Pentecost assures us that, “Biblical facts are trustworthy for all believers.” Pentecost is the day when the Holy Spirit is poured out on the Apostles and through their works; people came to faith in Jesus Christ…

Jesus Himself witnessed of the Holy Spirit in John 16, saying, “He will glorify me, He will take what is mine and make it known to you” (John 16:14). Tomorrow is the celebration of the day when Jesus Christ poured out His Holy Spirit to His church to do His ministry in the world.

What a joy it is to be alive in the Spirit of God. If you do not a believer in Jesus but some lying pastor or something else then you are missing big-time!, you are missing the joy of being connected to the power source” of Jesus Christ!

Dear listeners: Most of you deal with false spirits thinking it is the Holy Spirit. It’s my humble duty today to lead you to the person and work of the Holy Spirit in Jesus name…Amen!

When a spirit teaches and directs you to Jesus as God’s gift for your life; I tell you, that is the Holy Spirit. The Person and the work of the Holy Spirit…The Holy Spirit is the Living Water of Jesus.

Jesus said, “If you drink the water that I give you, you will thirst no more.”

The truth is to live a life without faith in Jesus is like trying to live life without the necessities of spiritual nutrition which makes life itself possible.

Jesus also says of the Spirit in John 16, “When the Counselor (the Spirit) comes, He will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin, righteousness and judgment: this is the Person and the work of the Holy Spirit

Rev. Let us take them one after the other:

Why will the Holy Spirit convict the world with regards to sin,

Romans 3:23 convict us: For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God! Matthew 12:31-32 caution us, saying: Therefore I say unto you, every sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men; but the blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven. And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him; but whosoever shall speak against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world nor in that which is to come:

Friends: At this point you may be wondering what sin is that: Now if you have ears to hear, then hear this: unforgivable sin against the Holy Spirit is unbelief… people with all kinds of philosophies do not believe that Jesus is God…but the Bible in John 9:31 says. We know that God does not hear sinners: but He hears any man who worships Him and does His will…

The Person and the work of the Holy Spirit
  • The Holy Spirit’s primary duty is to call and gather all believers… and keep them in the same true faith in Jesus Christ…
  • Hear me well anyone who rejects the fact that Jesus is God; automatically rejects the Holy Spirit……
  • Unbelief rejects the gifts of the Holy Spirit, because one would have made Him a liar; and that is the sin which leads to everlasting death.

Well noted: what of with regards to righteousness

Because Jesus has paid fully all the debts of any sin, we owe with His precious Blood on the Cross of Calvary; more-so, Jesus is now with the Father; constantly interceding on our behalf… let me tell you, the Blood of Jesus is still fresh and has the power to pay for all sins ever committed and yet to be committed…

With regards to judgment

Because; the Prince of this world now is condemned!”

Matthew 25:41
He will say to those on His left, “Depart from me, you cursed into the eternal fire which is prepared for satan the devil and his angels.

John 12:27ff
Father, glorify your name.” then a voice came from heaven: “I have glorified it; and I will glorify it again.” The crowd that stood there and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, “An angel has spoken to Him.” Jesus answered. “This voice has come for your sake, not mine. Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out. And when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself”…. You can also read Rev 12:7 ff

Well noted…listeners, please take note of the bible verses…John 9:31 Matt 25:4 John 12:27ff and Rev. 12:7ff.

Rev. you may proceed please!

Dear listeners: I am encourages in I John 4:6 to say: We are people of God with the message of Hope: anyone that knows God hears us; the one who is not of God does not believe us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

On that point: I tell you that:  As we are spiritual looking for God; when we understand that we can’t do it on ourselves…. Then we are dealing with the person of the Holy Spirit… The Person and the work of the Holy Spirit is to call, gather and keep true believers in true faith in Jesus Christ!

The text for The Pentecost Sunday is ultimately what satisfies us; both our physically and spiritually!

Significantly Jesus stood up on the day of the Feast of Booths, and shouts; calling everyone, “If you are thirsty, I’m your living water by the power of the Holy Spirit.” And anyone who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, from within him shall flow rivers of living water… by the power of the Holy Spirit”

Wow! What kind of water is this?

Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit, is calling everybody … from every nation on earth to come and accept the saving grace of God… Jesus is God’s provision for our physical and spiritual thirst.

Let me give you a practical situation: As we physically feel thirsty? we trust in drinks that will quench our thirsts… don’t we? Ironically we end up drinking all kinds of the wrong drinks… isn’t it? It is the same way we drink the wrong spiritual drink too.

Rev. what does it mean when “Jesus cried out, ‘If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.”

Pentecost is a great day; that we can learn something together…

  • First of all: Our body and soul need the Living Water of Jesus for refreshment; to live a Godly life.
  • Now on that first Pentecost Day, Apostle Peter stood before the crowds and convicted them of their thirst. He challenged them to see how they had rejected Jesus: Jesus is “God’s provision of living water,”.
  • The Holy Spirit came upon the crowd to confess, saying “What should we do?” Peter didn’t pour empty moralistic religious drink, saying trying harder to do better. No, Peter didn’t do such a thing.
  • Rather; Peter in Acts 2:38; by the power of the Holy Spirit, poured out Living Waters: Saying, “Repent, be baptized every one of you in the Name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit!” …. Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah:

The Holy Spirit brings the things of Jesus to us through means: By Scriptures; through water; In, with and under the bread and wine so that we can be satiated with the Living Water that will not only quench our spiritual thirst, but He will make us also rivers and fountains of living waters for others too to drink from.

My dear listeners, if you’re already a Christian, continue to drink deeply of Jesus Christ living water He graciously provides, that living water is refreshing.

Jesus said something like this earlier in His ministry…,

Yes in John 4: 10ff

At Jacob’s Well, when He said to the Samaritan woman,

“Whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Friends: The Holy Spirit is the third person in the Holy Trinity and He is testifying to you today. The thing which is essential for our spiritual vitality is the one which He brings. The Holy Spirit brings to us Jesus Christ and the blessings of His cross and resurrection to quencher our souls thirst.

In Jesus, by the power of His Spirit, we are washed in the waters of Holy Baptism and Word, and we are called by His own Name.

By the power of His Spirit, we have the Promises of God which protects, provides, and empowers us in the midst of challenges of this world.

Rev. Where is the Holy Spirit in this era of COVID-19.

An interesting question: the Holy Spirit is much around! Be still and pray in this era of COVID-19… God hears our prayers from heaven and at His time and by His means, He shall heal us from all calamities and heal our land, In Jesus name!

Tomorrow, Pentecost Sunday, the marks the Remembrance Day; the church was born: I, therefore, encourage you through The Person and the work of the Holy Spirit to:

  • Drink deeply of the Good News of real forgiveness and love of God which are the resource which makes sinners justified.
  • Drink deeply of the great commission, the vision that Christ Himself has for His church.
  • Let me remind all of you…. The church is a place of real forgiveness and peace. The church is a community for prodigal sons and daughters, who have suffered on the front lines of life and have finally turned to God for answers.

Rev. I am quoting you “the church is a place for prodigal sons and daughters who have suffered on the front lines of life and have finally turned to God for answers”! Please explain that!

If you are not sick, why do you go to the hospital to see the doctor?

If you are not a sinner, what are you doing in the church? We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God… and in Jesus alone, we are forgiven. And Jesus meets us in the church… which is His Body! This is what the Holy Spirit is mandated to manifest to us!

Now Jesus, through the Holy Spirit is calling us today to His Living Water of faith. He’s inviting you to drink deeply, because the reservoir of His “Living Water” is inexhaustible, it’s a well which runs deep enough and never runs dry.

By the power of the Holy Spirit…Have a blessed Pentecost and be a blessing to others in Jesus name…

Let us pray

Father Almighty the source of all good things, I pray that by the power of your Holy Spirit, gather your children like a hen gathers her chicks, enlighten us with your word; nourish and protect us and our household through this COVID-19 pandemic, that none of us should fall, defend and keep us in the true faith till the 2nd coming of our Lord Christ.  In Jesus’ name, I pray with thanksgiving! Amen!

Amen

Before the Benediction: let me read Numbers 6:22

And God spoke to Moses, saying,
Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this, you shall bless the children of Israel: you shall say unto them…!

The Lord bless you and keep you
The Lord make His face shine upon you
The Lord lift up His countenance and give you peace.

Through the name of The Person and the work of the Holy Spirit in Jesus name. Amen!

Amen! Amen! Amen
