Here is your son

Here is your son

Here is your son

John 19: 26 “When Jesus saw His mother there and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby he said to his mother. Dear woman here is your son”

Beloved in the Lord, even in the agony of death, Jesus was concerned about his mother‘s welfare, therefore, He charged John to take such responsibility of taking care of her in his home. He demonstrated that to his disciples and appointed  John to take care of her. Why? Because Jesus loved his mother.

Dear ones in Christ, assisting needy family members is a responsibility we have until death. The emphasis is on the responsibility of children to take care of their parents;  providing for them shelter, clothing, and food.

Dear Christians, now let us think about the basic responsibility that Jesus was communicating to John. This indicates that it is our responsibility to take care of our mothers and our society, the church and the nation as Christians in nation-building in order to have responsible children as future leaders.

May the example of Christ, Your Son, who in the agony of death commended to His disciple the care of His mother (John 19:26-27), teach me to be concerned for my parents until their last breath. I  commend also to You, kindest Father, the safety of my brothers and sisters and of all my relatives. May they be brothers and sisters of Christ.

Jesus sets a great value and principle for John to .concentrate  on the positive attitude towards the family of both men and women; that the responsibility of parents plays a special role in shaping the child’s attitude towards his mother and father; that the mother’s need for affection from other people determines the interaction with her child. That also shows the socio-psychological need of fathers determine the characteristics of their interaction with their children.

Dear ones in the Lord, be responsible, as Christians towards the development of the church, the society, and the nation in times of difficulties that are happening now like the spreading of the Coronavirus pandemic. This is the time to bring our resources together to help needy families, the church, and the nation at large.

May the peace of the Lord which passes all understanding keep our hearts and minds through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.
